WordPress – Useful Keyboard Shortcuts

WordPress has become the tool of choice for many bloggers. Its easy-to-use interface makes writing, customising and maintaining your blog simple. For help getting started we run a comprehensive 1-day WordPress Training and Blogging Training courses here in Brighton, Sussex.

Blogging can be a time consuming activity, so any way to speed up your workflow can be a big help.

Thankfully, WordPress keyboard shortcuts are included to help you save time.

These’ll take a bit of getting used to, but once you’re familiar with them there’ll be no looking back!

Copy: Ctrl + C

Cut: Ctrl + X

Paste: Ctrl + V

Bold: Ctrl + B

Italics: Ctrl + I

Strikethrough: Alt + SHIFT + D

Insert Unordered List (bullet points): Alt + SHIFT + U

Insret Ordered List (numbered): Alt + SHIFT + O

Save Draft / Changes: Ctrl + S

Insert “Read More” Tag: Alt + SHIFT + T

Indent Paragraph (Blockquote): Alt + SHIFT + Q

Insert/Edit Link: Alt + SHIFT + A

Centre Text: Alt + SHIFT + C

Left Align Text: Alt + SHIFT + L

Right Align Text:  Alt + SHIFT + R

Publish the Post: Alt + SHIFT + P (use with caution!)

Enter HTML Editor: Alt + SHIFT + E

Note – all of these keyboard shortcuts are correct for WordPress version 2.9.1
