Introduction to PRINCE2 Foundation Training

This PRINCE2 Foundation course will ensure that you gain an understanding of the PRINCE2 principles, PRINCE2 terminology.  The PRINCE2 Foundation qualification is the first part of the full PRINCE2 qualification which is required in order to become a PRINCE2 Practitioner.

What is PRINCE2?

PRINCE2®, an acronym for Projects IN Controlled Environments, is a project management methodology that promotes productivity and maximal efficiency - through following an established and proven process-driven framework. For more information check out our blog PRINCE2 vs APMP - What are the differences?

PRINCE2 Foundation Syllabus

The PRINCE2 Foundation training course has been designed to measure the delegate and whether or not they have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the PRINCE2 method.

The PRINCE2 Foundation Syllabus includes the following topics:

PRINCE2 Principles

PRINCE2 operates with a collective set of principles that can be applied to every project. These seven principles provide the framework of the best practice upon which PRINCE2 has been created on.

  • Continued business justification
  • Learn from Experience
  • Defined Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manage by stages
  • Manage by exception
  • Focus on Products
  • Tailor to suit the project environment

PRINCE2 Themes

The seven PRINCE2 themes are features of the project that must be repeatedly addressed and related together in order for the project to be delivered efficiently and successfully.

  • Business Case
  • Organisation
  • Quality
  • Plans
  • Risk
  • Change
  • Progress

PRINCE2 Processes

The seven PRINCE2 processes are defined by the activities that are required to direct, manage and deliver the project successfully. The following processes run from pre-project, through the beginning of the project and delivery, up to and including project closure.

  • Starting a Project
  • Directing a Project
  • Initiating a Project
  • Controlling a Stage
  • Managing Product Delivery
  • Managing a Stage Boundary
  • Closing a Project

Course Feedback

Who would have thought that a PRINCE2® Training Course would have been so much fun? I recently attended (and passed) the PRINCE2® Foundation & Practitioner course at Silicon Beach and cannot recommend it enough. The brilliant trainer brought the subject matter to life making it interesting and integrating PRINCE2® into my day to day working life has been made so simple – a real life skill. A great location too – thank you Silicon Beach!

I have just completed the Foundation Stage and am booked on to complete the Practitioner level for the last 2 days of the June course. I just wanted to say what an asset Claudine is to Silicon Beach! I have had a fabulous 3 days, learning loads and consolidating previous knowledge. I passed the exam well above my expectation so please pass my thanks on to Claudine and my best wishes to the others who will be taking the exam on Friday.
