The Object Oriented Modelling training course offers a practical
introduction to analysis and design using the UML. Every delegate receives
a copy
of the book, UML and the Unified Process by Jim Arlow and Ila Neustadt.
This book is part of the Addison-Wesley Object Technology Series edited
by Booch, Jacobson and Rumbaugh.
The Object Oriented Modelling training course offers a series of practical
exercises designed to apply the UML in a variety of business applications.
The course focus is on the practical development of use case diagrams,
use case specifications, activity diagrams, class models, statechart
diagrams, sequence diagrams and collaboration (communication) diagrams.
An overview is also provided of a generic Unified Process.
The Object Oriented Modelling course is offered “in-house”
with a fourth day that includes a mock examination, the ISEB examination
(see below) and a tutorial where participants apply the UML to specifications
they are currently developing “in-house”. This immediate
practical application of the UML has proved popular with participants
at a number of organisations who are currently using or evaluating the
UML.
Object Oriented Modelling with UML training course objectives
At the end of this Object Oriented Modelling training course, participants
will be able to:
- Act as effective members of a team involved in analysis and design
activities using the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- Explain the key concepts of the Unified Process (UP) and identify
how it differs from other approaches
- Be aware of the main modelling types of the UML and how they relate
to each other and to the phases and workflows of the Unified Process.
- Construct use case diagrams, use case specifications, activity
diagrams, class models, state charts, sequence diagrams and collaboration
(communication) diagrams using UML notation.
