Assertiveness is the ability to stand up for ourselves and to say how we feel when we feel we need to. It includes:
- Being able to express your opinion and feelings.
- Being able to say “no” without feeling guilty.
- Being able to set your own priorities i.e. choosing how you spend your time.
- Being able to ask for what you want.
- Being able to take reasonable risks.
- Being able not to assert yourself when you feel it would be better not to say anything
