Assertiveness in Brief

Assertiveness is the ability to stand up for ourselves and to say how we feel when we feel we need to. It includes:

  • Being able to express your opinion and feelings.
  • Being able to say “no” without feeling guilty.
  • Being able to set your own priorities i.e. choosing how you spend your time.
  • Being able to ask for what you want.
  • Being able to take reasonable risks.
  • Being able not to assert yourself when you feel it would be better not to say anything

Very good information on assertiveness and selfesteem. We have several staff that could use assertiveness training and I am going to use several of your newsletter articles to develop the training. Thanks again.
