This comprehensive 5-day course prepares delegates to pass the 640-802 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam.

Training is hands on, using live Cisco routers and switches. The course is led by a highly experienced CCNP qualified instructor.

 

Cisco CCNA Training Course Objectives

On completion of this course delegates will be prepared to sit the 640-802 CCNA exam and will have the skills to:

• Install and configure Cisco switches and routers in multiprotocol networks using LAN and WAN interfaces
• Provide Level 1 troubleshooting service
• Improve network performance and security

Cisco CCNA Training Course Content

Each day of training is divided into sessions:

  • 0900 -1030 Briefing relating to the following practical session.
  • 1045-1230 AM practical session as listed
  • 1330-1500 Briefing relating to the following practical session.
  • 1515-1700 PM practical session as listed
  • Last 45 minutes – test to consolidate learning

 

MONDAY
AM - Basic and Advanced router configuration
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Physical ports, layout and pin out of all devices and cables in the Pod Network diagram for the course
  • The memory structure and the use of those different areas of memory.
  • The show commands
  • The different command line prompts and the function of the modes they refer to and the commands to enter and exit those modes.
  • How to give the router a name.
  • Configuring an interface’s IP address.
  • Setting up a banner and Message Of The Day.
  • Enable Telnet access.
  • Associate a routers name with its IP address, (PING the name).
  • Add a Description to an interface

PM – CDP, TELNET, TFTP

This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • How to find out detailed information about neighbouring devices using Cisco Discovery Protocol.
  • How to setup, Suspend and Show active Telnet sessions with Ctrl-Shift-6 X and show commands
  • Use a TFTP server on one of the PCs to backup your running configuration and the version of IOS on your router.
  • Use Wireshark to monitor protocol activity

 

TUESDAY
AM - RIP, IGRP

This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Configuring RIP v1 then IGRP on all interfaces
  • Use the Show commands to debug and fault find the RIP installation.
  • Verify inter Pod connectivity with ping.
  • Use clear ip route to clear and relearn a routing table, this is an aide to troubleshooting routing problems
  • Use debug ip rip to see periodic updates
  • Use Wireshark to monitor protocol activity

PM - EIGRP, OSPF
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Configure EIGRP across all Pods
  • Configure single area OSPF across all Pods
  • Display neighbors, interfaces running ospf, routing table.
  • Verify inter pod connectivity using PING.
  • Configure multi area ospf across all pods
  • Use Wireshark to monitor protocol activity

 

WEDNESDAY
AM - 2950, switch configuration
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • How to move between modes, give the switch a name
  • How to reset a switch to factory default
  • Assigning IP address and default gateway
  • Permanently assign MAC address to port
  • Configure port security and sticky learning of MAC address

PM - 2950, VLANS, Trunking
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Setting up VLANs on both switches, connect to PCs and Routers test by PING
  • Setting up VTP domain, check correct configuration with show vtp status
  • Setting up a Trunk line between the switches, check with show interface fa x/x switchport

 

THURSDAY
AM - IP Access lists, NAT/PAT
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Filtering traffic using access control lists
  • Setting up a standard access control list, test with ping
  • Setting up a extended access control list, test with ping and telnet
  • Setting up static NAT, Dynamic NAT test with Telnet

PM - PPP & CHAP, ISDN BRI & PRI
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Setup PPP with Chap authentication on a serial interface
  • Configure ISDN BRI-BRI using Dial-on-Demand
  • Configure ISDN BRI-BRI using Dialler Profiles

 

FRIDAY
AM - Frame Relay
This session will familiarise delegates with:

  • Setting up a point-to-point Frame Relay connection
  • Configure Encapsulation, lmi type and map IP address to DLCI
  • Test with ping and show commands

PM - Questions & Answers

  • Recap any points covered in the previous week
  • Address any practical/hands on questions
  • Summary and Close

Cisco CCNA Course Prerequisites

This is an intensive programme. Delegates should have a good understanding of networking devices and fundamentals including TCP/IP before attending.
