Identifying a Programme

The trigger to this process starting is the existence of a Programme Mandate providing the high level strategic objectives of the programme. This is typically a short process of no more than maybe a few weeks that turns a concept into a tangible business proposition.

These objectives feed into the Programme Brief which will also contain the outline vision of the programme and the benefits that will result from the new capability.

The Sponsoring Group will also need to be formed during this process and from this group a Senior Responsible Owner appointed.

A Programme Preparation Plan will be submitted to the Sponsoring group at the end of Identifying a Programme for them to consider whether or not to proceed. The plan identifies the outputs, boundaries and controls for the Defining a Programme process. If the sponsoring group give formal approval to proceed, the next process will be Defining a Programme.
