Highest and Lowest Numbers

Excel also has functions that you can use to identify the smallest and largest numbers of any group or series of numbers. This is particularly useful if you have a very long list of data, and don’t want to have to read through the whole thing to find the biggest or smallest value.

To find the lowest number in a list, the function is =MIN(). Between the brackets I would type in the range of cells – e.g “B1:B10″ or “B1,A1,C10:C15″

Excel MIN example

If I wanted to find the highest number instead of typing MIN I would type in MAX, i.e. =MAX(B10:B15).
