Google includes twitter in search – what does that mean for business?
As I’m sure many of you have heard Googles recent announcement that they have reached a deal with Twitter to include tweets in search results. Bing were first to announce a similar deal which also includes Facebook. The question is how will this affect Businesses who use social media platforms as a marketing and customer relationship management tool. (Want to learn more about optimising for search? See our Search Engine Optimisation Course).
- Searches will show real time results based on what Twitter users say.
- Marketing is not about selling anymore, it is about engaging customers. Its a hard pill to swallow for those stuck in their ways about marketing and sales. Content needs to communicate not sell, and businesses need to use communication tools such as Facebook and Twitter, and make it easy for their customers to share their information with the appropriate icons on their web pages.
- Preference will be given to URLs that are tweeted by users with more followers or authority, even more incentive to attract followers with authority, learn and research what these influencers want to tweet and retweet about and find and research who these influencers are, give them what they want and build relationships with them. The idea is to get involved with and start up conversations. This takes time so start now if you haven’t already. Time to work on your own influence so that you can use your own tweets to influence search results. Read the rest of "Prepare for the Google – Twitter search deal – 6 Top Tips"
